I'm fourteen years old. I have trouble getting along with my parents. What tips can I use to talk to them, and how should I start?
Answer

You can use these tips when talking to your parents:

1. Choose the Right Time: Find a calm moment when parents are not busy or stressed.

2. Be Respectful: Use polite language and maintain a respectful tone.

3. Listen Actively: Show that you are paying attention by nodding and making eye contact.

4. Express Clearly: Clearly state your thoughts and feelings without blaming.

5. Compromise: Be open to their perspective and willing to find a middle ground.

6. Stay Calm: If the conversation gets heated, take a break and return to it later.

These approaches can help foster better communication and understanding.

I am a two teenage-boys' mother. I think parents should respect their own children at any age, treat them as close friends but not creations.
As a child, if you are under age, please do listen to your parents especially your mother, do right things to make your mother happy, then you will be around by love and happiness everyday. If you don't belive me, ask Jay Chou, he will sing the song "Listen to your mom"😎
As a child, if you are adult, never try to change your parents or even teach them anything, if you can't get along well with them, just leave them, it is very simple, just like animals in natural, building your own zone, living your own life. life is very short, go chasing after happiness. visit your parents regularly but don't live together.

That's a really important topic. It's great that you're reaching out for help.

Despite the close bond, communicating with parents can be tough. Here are more practical suggestions.

Firstly, pick the right moment. Avoid approaching them when they're tired after work. Instead, wait for a peaceful Sunday evening. Secondly, be a good listener. Let them finish speaking before jumping in with your thoughts. If they're complaining about your messy room, hear them out.

Another key point is to share your world. Introduce them to your hobbies, like the new video game you love. Explain why it fascinates you. Also, use modern tools. Create a family chat group to drop a message about your day or a funny meme.

Most importantly, show respect. Even if you disagree, say “I understand your point, but I feel this way…” This way, we can break down barriers and foster a loving, understanding relationship with our parents.

Actaully, I think it's a normal phenomenon, and I think you could get calm instead of too anxious because we gradually have our own privacy and intimate relationships with friends. When we have our own ideas, we often have a contradictory viewpoint with our parents, which results in numerous conflicts. The point of resolving these conflicts lies in effective communication. When there is likely to be an argument between parents and us, we should first try to express our own ideas fluently and calmly, and try to understand the messages our parents try to convey, bearing in mind that our partents are always concerned about us.

At your age, it's normal to have some fights with parents, but you can make things better by thinking calmly about the problems and trying to understand that your parents care about you.

Talk to them nicely about how you feel and listen to their side too, so you can agree on things together.

Doing small kind things every day and being patient will slowly help you get along better.
