Should teacher-student romance be banned?

It depends on.

Looks at Chen-Ning Yang and his wife Weng Fan.

But sometimes it could easily be used as a way for “老少配”(rob the cradle).

And I find something interesting. When an elder man marries a young woman, it could be OK and easily accepted by the audience. When it comes to an elder woman, it could be totally different.

It should be banned in most of the cases. (But if they're university students,  they are over 18 years old,  there is no problem because they have the right and ability.)

Children and teenagers are still too young to understand what true love is. So called"falling love with teachers" is just a kind of curiosity. Also, they haven't enough ability to recognize. It's dangerous.

Students should focus more on study and communicate with their friends,  not be curious too much about 'love'. And Teachers' duty should be teaching,  they should obey teachers' virtues.

Romance between teachers and students shouldn't be banned.

Love doesn't distinguish the old from the young. And the critical things should be there must be sincerity and loyalty, that's all.

Whether it can be accepted, I think, is decided by the age of student. If the student is an adult, that's OK. If not, it should be banned. Because it's neither suitable for a child to fall  into love in a place for studying, nor suitable for the child to make the choice in an age lacking cognition of love. But banning all is such a Procrustean bed(一刀切). After all, to two adults, romance shouldn't be discriminated by age.

When the teacher and student are subjected to the same institution, or the student is not an adult, it should be forbidden.

No matter under which situation, in a romantic relationship like this, the power status of both sides is unequal. The teacher owns more power than the student, which provides more convenience for teacher's malicious manipulation and abuse to students. More importantly, this may generate detrimental outcomes, especially in a romantic relationship, which is more intimate, private than an official or formal one, and in which the behavior regulation of both sides counts more on mutual self-discipline, morality than on formal rules, such as a contract. For instance, in a romantic relationship, one side may choose to manipulate the other side emotionally or not, and this is determined by its self-discipline and morality.   Simply put, in a romantic relationship like this, the chances that the less powerful side suffers mistreatment are contingent on the self-regulation of the more powerful side.

Power can be a boon or blight, depending on the one holding it is a saint or satan. However, it can not be denied that humanity is capricious and vulnerable, especially in a circumstance where external regulation is scarce and minimally efficient.  Teachers in this kind of relationship can hurt or even ruin students like devils easily because they have more power. If this type of romantic relationship is allowed, there might be more students suffering from abuse of their teachers due to the unequal power status and the dark side of humanity.

Well, I think it shouldn't be banned, and it also shouldn't be encouraged, cause love shouldn't be defined, everyone have the right to love someone, that's to say, no matter you which one you be together, love is over everything.

I think the answer is yes. What is the meaning of a teacher? teachers, who a significant part of the school, have their responsibility to teach kids to distinguish between good and devil and answer questions for students who have trouble in their homework. If you are a teacher, and you fall in love with one of your sudents, you will broke the rule and influence your student's normal life and study. A teacher's duty is to help youngsters to grow up well.if teacher-student romance were  allowed by public, school would have many mass issues.
